Nasa Mar’s Mission 2020

The next NASA’s Mars exploration program is Mars 2020 rover. It is a long-term plan of robotic exploration on the Red Planet. Nasa keeps this program high-priority science goals for Mars exploration, including finding out the potential for life on Mars, habitable conditions on Mars in the ancient past, searching for signs of past microbial life, and so on.

Mar’s rover is designed to drill surface and collect core samples of the most promising rocks and soils. The mission is subjected to collect information of future human expeditions on Mars such as testing methods for producing oxygen from the Martian atmosphere, searching for other resources (such as inside water), enhancing landing techniques, and gathering knowledge of weather, dust, and other potential environmental conditions that could affect future astronauts living and exploring on Mars.

The mission is to be launched in July/August 2020 when Earth and Mars are at their closest position so as it takes less power to travel to Mars from the earth. Other times, Earth and Mars are at a distant position in their orbit. In order to keep mission’s costs and risks as lowest as possible, the Mars 2020 is designed in NASA’s successful Mars Science Laboratory mission architecture that also designed Curiosity rover and proven landing system on its previous mission.
